He’s been wanting to cosplay JoJo for a while now.  I’m all “Wouldn’t you like some eyes or socks or something first?” and he’s like “No.”

I’ve put off painting the chandelier because it’s going to look so good that I may abandon the project altogether and just lie on the floor for the rest of my life, staring into it.  And I’m putting a mirror on the wall instead of a painting, just to make things difficult (the likely angle of its reflection will require finishing part of the back of the front diorama wall with baseboard and wallpaper.  That excites me).  Of course the closer I get to finishing the diorama (it’s taken more time to write this sentence than it would have to make the curtains) the sooner I’ll need to figure out how to light it.  From above.  With a visible ceiling.  Some hobby.

Hm.  Got to detail that chest of drawers.

That’s 2mm craft foam, cut into 1/4-inch strips.  Tomorrow I’ll perk up the color with acrylic pigments and coat it with gloss varnish.  Let me finish gluing these pieces down while you enjoy this drawing I found out by the dumpsters:

And even before the glue is dry, we’re screwing around again.  I’m still gnashing my teeth at the thought of building a chandelier, but I think these cup hooks might be useful.  Somehow.  The fixture looks different in every panel, so I’ve got some leeway on the design.  Thank you, Araki!  I love you!

This is the maquette for my Highway Star diorama (see vol. 41, pg. 33 of Duwang).  The point of this is to work out blocking, scale, approximate camera angle and framing before I start building walls and furniture.  And though you wouldn’t know it looking at this picture, I’m also planning how to light the scene.  It’s the 3-dimensional equivalent of a rough sketch.

I am excited by the challenge of re-creating the surreal contrast between dark concrete tunnel and warm home interior.  I don’t want to make that fucking chandelier, though.  Chandeliers are hard.

Who’s building a diorama for this guy to attack Rohan in?  Not me, because I keep screwing around.

It’s probably because you gave him a flat, lifeless pink felt blanket.  Why not add some realistic wrinkles and see if he doesn’t calm down a little?  All you need to do is cut a piece of tin foil (slightly smaller than the felt) and glue it on.  Ordinary white glue works just fine for this.

Then you can gently pinch Rohan’s blankie here and there and it will hold creases and folds– just like the real thing.

Please don’t disappoint Mr. Kishibe again.
